The Cortez’s story goes all the way back to 1972, when Olympic track coach, Bill Bowerman, came up with the first of Nike’s “modern” running shoes. Comfort and durability was paramount, as a shoe was needed to fulfil the criteria of being a competent runner on any surface. Over 40 years down the line, it may not be the running trainer of choice for athletes anymore but it has made its way into being a must have in any sneakerheads collection.
