It’s time to talk about my love for Dr. Martens boots. It all began when I was in primary 5. I had to have the classic black 8-eye boots and I wore them with everything. I mean everything. To school with my uniform, to the school disco with my polka dot shirt dress, to family parties and basically everywhere I went. Funnily I’m now in my 30s and I still wear a polka dot shirt dress, it’s just a bit bigger.

Fast-forward a few years and my love for that bouncing sole hasn’t faltered. For a while my DM of choice was a slim Siano or a shiny 3-eye shoe but recently, I rediscovered my love for the boot. This time, it was a white patent padded collar 6-eye.

When I tried them on I instantly knew they were the next pair for me. The white brightens up any outfit, and even if it is winter, who cares? They look incredible, if I do say so myself.

I’ve planned all my outfits with them already. Dresses? No problem, they go with tights so well. Jeans? Of course – skinny or weekend comfies, yes indeed. They look amazing with black leather skinnies too.

They genuinely are boots for life and get more comfortable every time you wear them. The beauty of a Dr. Marten boot is that the chunkiness makes them masculine without being too manly, and I love the edge they add to my wardrobe. Plus, it’s a nice feeling stepping out wearing a piece of British culture.

Can you imagine the sheer joy on my face when I visited the Dr. Martens factory a few months back? I soaked it all up, learning the brand’s rich history and watching shoes being made by hand.
