Inclusivity for All: Purple Tuesday at schuh

Here at schuh, we’re on an important journey: making sure everyone can enjoy a fun, easy, and fully accessible shopping experience. We’re very proud to be celebrating Purple Tuesday on 4th November 2025, championing disability equality and inclusivity for all!

Purple Tuesday is a global movement all about making shopping and services more inclusive. It inspires organisations to improve their customer experience for disabled people through practical changes that make a real difference – such as implementing in-store quiet hours, adopting the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard, and creating an Accessibility Guide for customers.

Inclusivity, All Year Round

At schuh, we’re celebrating Purple Tuesday and Disability History Month as part of our year-round commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. With Disability Equality as one of our key Community Pillars, we’ve been taking some steps that we’re really proud of:

Single-Shoe Initiative: schuh customers can buy a single shoe at 50% off the pair price at all of our stores, helping anyone with a limb difference or disability find their perfect fit.

Social Stories: we know that shopping can sometimes feel overwhelming, so we created our Social Stories to make things easier. Designed with the autistic community in mind, they help customers to know exactly what to expect when shopping in-store at schuh. You can download our Social Stories for adults and Social Stories for kids today.

Easy-On Shoe Collections: We’ve made finding easy-on shoes easier than ever with a dedicated easy-on shoes page and easy-on school shoes page, promoted by tailored emails featuring these inclusive, comfortable styles.

Staff Education: our schuh team is always learning  – this year, 80% of our team members have completed Disability Confidence training, alongside ongoing Deaf Awareness, Neurodiversity, and Disability Confident programmes. Every schuh employee also has access to Purple 365, a learning platform that helps us understand and support disabled customers.

Inclusive Imagery: representation matters – so we’ve been working to make our imagery more inclusive in as many different ways as we can, with 15% of our website’s product pages now featuring models with a disability.

Disability Charity Partners: we’re proud to support organisations making a real difference, including Shape Arts: a charity who work to improve access to culture for disabled people. Profits from sales of our schuh Shape Arts Canvas Tote bag, designed by Grace Fairley and inspired by the theme ‘re-thinking disability’, are donated back to Shape Arts to fund their amazing work!

Our Ongoing Commitment

At schuh, we’re committed to equal opportunities and inclusion for everyone – both within our teams and among our customers. We’re proud to have achieved Level 2 Disability Confident Employer accreditation, recognising our dedication to making schuh a place where everyone can thrive.
