schuh x KEEN x Common Ground

Fresh air, good food, new people, and a reason to put your phone on DND for a few hours – a 10/10 day, if you ask us. Last Sunday, we headed outdoors with KEEN and London-based culture and community platform PLACE for Common Ground: a curated experience built around hiking, creativity, and connecting with the people and places around us.
Designed as an antidote to another weekend spent scrolling, Common Ground brought our community together to learn something new, get creative, and spend some proper time outside (basically the perfect Sunday side quest). Here’s what went down.

Finding Common Ground with schuh, KEEN, & PLACE
Created in partnership with PLACE, Common Ground was all about giving people a different way to meet, hang out, and explore somewhere new. Instead of the usual bar, club, or coffee-shop link-up, we took things into the outdoors with a curated nature walk led by @xeniasociety, who shared insights into the wildlife, plant life, and foraging opportunities along the route.
And when your day involves trails, uneven ground, and plenty of time on your feet, footwear really matters. We kitted out our community in some of our newest KEEN styles – including our current obsession, the KEEN Jasper Zionic – bringing some serious gorpcore energy without compromising on practicality. From trail sections to meditation sessions, our communal dinner, and everything in between, this was KEEN footwear doing exactly what it does best: getting outside and keeping up with every plan, all without missing a beat.

A Different Kind of Day Out
We kicked the day off with our nature walk through Wood Farm, heading out together with plenty of stops along the way to chat, enjoy the views, and learn about the nature around us. We then swapped walking for a creative workshop with @realartsschool, using the landscape as our inspiration for some relaxing drawing and painting, before a guided breathwork and meditation session with @voyage.of.light. After being on the move, these activities were the perfect chance to stop, switch off, and really appreciate the surroundings.
And after all that? Food was obviously the move. We wrapped up Common Ground with a communal outdoor dinner brought to us by Sukari & Spice, bringing everyone back together around one table to eat, chat, and swap favourite moments from the day. It was the perfect ending to an experience built around exactly that – spending time together, trying something new, and finding a different way to connect.

Doing More Good with Common Ground
The nature walk, meditation session, creative workshop, and group dinner made up the official Common Ground itinerary, but the best moments came in between: connecting with new people, taking time to relax, trying new things, and spending quality time in the outdoors. Turns out, getting outside hits different when you do it together.
Our day with KEEN and Common Ground was part of our wider mission at schuh to Do More Good: using our people, platform, and places to support wellbeing, connection, and community. Bringing people together in the outdoors, creating space to switch off and try new things, and encouraging real-world connections? That’s exactly the kind of energy we’re here for.
