Summer of Love: schuh x Mighty Hoopla

At schuh, we’re all about self-expression, loud looks, and making space for everyone to show up as their true selves. This summer, schuh headed to Mighty Hoopla – the UK’s biggest and boldest celebration of LGBT+ music, fashion, and freedom – with our very own House of schuh stage, bringing some seriously iconic guests with us!
The UK’s most fabulous extravaganza saw 60,000 likeminded people come together in London’s Brockwell Park from the 31st May to the 1st June for two days of amazing music and summer fun, with more than 200 musicians and a variety of performers – including iconic headliners Kesha, Ciara, and Jade!
With Hoopla embracing queer culture, proudly championing LGBTQ+ artists, and creating a safe and inclusive space that celebrates diversity, it aligns perfectly with schuh’s ongoing commitment to LGBTQ+ equality and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. What better way for us to kick off Pride?

Tayce & Ash
The first of our House of schuh hosts was legendary Welsh drag queen Tayce, who finished runner up on the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2021. Her career since then has expanded into modelling, music, and television, while she also performs regularly at nightclubs in London, New York, and beyond. Her House of schuh takeover was nothing short of iconic, proving why she’s drag royalty!
Tayce took to the House of schuh stage in an iconic custom creation by schuh’s very own Ash (@Its.Sew.Ash) who designs bespoke drag outfits, handmade in Glasgow!
“To be unapologetically me means living without fear. Doing what your heart tells you to do and going for it no matter what anyone tells you.”
Tayce, Drag Queen

Get Busy Crew
The Get Busy Crew took over the House of schuh stage on Saturday and Sunday to celebrate queer culture and self expression. The Crew are a dynamic ballroom collective led by Kartel Telfar and Mxfit, who have been taking the ballroom scene by storm in recent years with their electrifying performances. Their House of schuh takeover featured fierce crowd catwalks with categories like Giving Face, Big Queer Attitude, and Love Is In The Park!
“I think Get Busy started feeling like my chosen family when we realised that people were not only eager to come and compete, but also eager to support us.”
Ru Jean, Crew Organiser at Get Busy

Micro Rainbow Partnership
schuh also partnered with Micro Rainbow, who provide safe housing, employability support, training, and social inclusion for LGBTQI+ people fleeing persecution. Their vision is to create a world where lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and intersex people are safe, free from discrimination and persecution, and can enjoy equal opportunities in life. At Hoopla, they premiered a teaser of ‘Who’s There?’, a film capturing the experiences of LGBTQI+ asylum seekers.
“If we could change something, it’s that we would have enough housing for absolutely everyone that comes here. They always have somewhere safe to stay.”
Rosalind, Comms Manager at Micro Rainbow

Step into Love at Mighty Hoopla
Our iconic House of schuh stage also featured resident DJs Tete Bang and Adam Theo delivering B2B bangers, plus our Step Into Love cube – an immersive infinity mirror experience (a selfie lover’s dream!) where you could snap photos, share messages, and soak in the love. Those who signed up to THE SCHUH CLUB at the cube were entered into a competition to win FREE SHOES FOR A YEAR – plus gifted a limited-edition schuh fan to keep things cool!
Our Oxford Circus store also hosted an iconic Pre-Hoopla party on the 24th May, with a set from DJ Tete Bang and a glam station from Doll Parts, offering free tooth gems all day.
